Is Stephen Johnson receiving too much criticism?

Kentucky senior quarterback Stephen Johnson played a decent game against Southern Miss. He threw for 176 yards and scored two touchdowns, one passing and one rushing.

Where he struggled was in the short passing game. The big miss came in the first half, when Johnson overthrew a wide open Tavin Richardson on a slant route.

“I thought Tavin (Richardson) had a chance to make a play,” said offensive coordinator Eddie Gran. “I thought a couple of the third down conversions we didn’t convert, we’d be saying we did a really good job. It all came down to that 3rd down conversion.”

Despite the win, some fans took to social media to voice their frustrations with Johnson’s miscues and called for Drew Barker to be the guy going forward.
