H.S. BASKETBALL | Alexander "Zan" Payne Hopes To Follow In Dad's Footsteps

12/22/2017 12:04 PM

Alexander “Zan” Payne is a typical high school basketball player. As a senior at Lexington Catholic, he just wants to improve his game enough to get some Division-1 looks, and help his team become better.

What makes Zan different, is his last name. His father, Kenny Payne, is a former star at the University of Louisville who went on to play in the NBA and is now an assistant men’s basketball coach at the University of Kentucky.

There has been talk about Zan possibly walking on at Kentucky next season. He said it’s a possibility, but his dad would like him to earn a scholarship somewhere.
