Don't hit the panic button; Kentucky Basketball is still right on track

LEXINGTON — Yes, Ohio State isn’t a very good team this year, and no, losing to the Buckeyes on a neutral court does not look good for what was the fourth-ranked Kentucky basketball team.

Nevertheless, it still isn’t time to hit the panic button in Big Blue Nation.

After their disappointing 74-67 loss to Ohio State on Saturday, the Wildcats fell to 9-2 overall on the young season and dropped to No. 11 / 12 in the latest coaches and AP polls.

But, believe it or not, Kentucky is doing just fine after the first 11 games of the year when compared to their records in previous seasons.

In the last five seasons under John Calipari, only twice have the Wildcats topped a 9-2 mark through the first 11 games of the season (2011-12, 2014-15).

The other three years, Kentucky started either 9-2 or 8-3, and that didn’t stop the Cats from reaching the Final Four in 2011, the national title game in 2014, and … well … let’s not talk about what happened in 2013.
