Kentucky junior defensive end Denzil Ware was named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Ware recorded two tackles, a tackle for loss, a sack, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries (one for a touchdown) in Kentucky’s 24-17 win over Southern Miss on Saturday. His scoop and score touchdown in the third quarter from a fumble caused by junior safety Darius West was the play of the game for the Wildcats. It extended Kentucky’s lead to 24-10 with less than a minute left in the third quarter.

Ware has 111 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles in his Kentucky career. He was named to the Preseason All-SEC Second Team by the league’s coaches and the media heading into the 2017 season.
