Dakari Johnson is slim, trim, and ready to prove critics wrong

BOSTON – Dakari Johnson admitted to taking a few weeks off from basketball after the end of the 2014-15 season at Kentucky, and it showed at the NBA Combine last month.

Of all the players in Chicago, the former UK center registered as the heaviest in attendance and unimpressed scouts with both his high body fat percentage and low vertical jump.

But since then, Dakari has rededicated himself to getting back into NBA-caliber shape and looked like a totally different player at his recent workout with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Draftexpress.com lists Johnson as second round pick, currently showing him going to the Phoenix Suns with the No. 44 overall selection, and other projections have him rising as high as an early first rounder.

After flying out to the East Coast to workout for the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, Dakari was kind enough to give KSTV a call and discuss the life of being an NBA Draft prospect.
