County Connection: John Calipari's visit to the Kentucky Speedway

This month’s county connection feature takes a look at Gallatin County.

Back in the summer of 2013, John Calipari spent a day in Sparta, Kentucky where the Kentucky speedway is. He was asked to be the honorary pace car driver for the Quaker State 400. The race ended up being rained out and Calipari didn’t get to lead the cars out on the track, but it was still a special night for all involved. In celebrating Gallatin County, we sat down with Kentucky Speedway GM Mark Simendinger about what that night was like for fans:
