Comeback Cats Come Back To Kentucky For Maker's Mark Signing

04/13/2018 04:29 PM

Friday at Keeneland Race Track in Lexington, hundreds of dedicated Kentucky fans waited in line to get their Maker’s Mark Bottle signed.

Former University of Kentucky coach Tubby Smith (1997-2007) and members of the “Comeback Cats” 1998 team limited edition Maker’s Mark bottle, including Smith, Cameron Mills, Jeff Sheppard, Wayne Turner, Mike Bradley, Saul Smith, Ryann Hogan, Scott Padgett, Allen Edwards and Steve Masiello signed autographs alongside their championship trophy.

Rob Samuels of Maker’s Mark and Bill Thomason of Keeneland were also present.

The limited edition bottle is the fourth bottle in the UK championship series. The first honored Adolph Rupp and his four National Championships, followed by Joe B. Hall and his 1978 team. Last year’s bottle honored Rick Pitino and the 1996 Kentucky team. The next bottle in the series will honor John Calipari and the 2012 Kentucky Wildcats.

Proceeds from sales of the bottle benefit the UK Athletics Association’s Center for Academic and Tutorial Services (CATS), which provides tutorial services for student-athletes from all of UK’s varsity sports teams.
