CBS: FSU Defensive Coordinator Has Interviewed For UK Job

11/24/2012 05:15 PM

CBS’ Jeremy Fowler is reporting that Florida State defensive coordinator Mark Stoops has interviewed for the vacant UK head coach position. This news comes just hours after UK athletic director Mitch Barnhart told reporters that no one has been offered the job and that there is plenty of interest.

Stoops, the brother of Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops and former Arizona coach Mike Stoops, has been in charge of the 10th-ranked Seminoles’ defense since arriving from Arizona. This season, Florida State’s defense ranks seventh nationally in points allowed with 15.1 per game. Stoops has no prior head coaching experience.

Stay tuned to KSTV this week as we track the potential candidates to replace Joker Phillips.
