Kentucky has not had success playing Tennessee in Thompson Boiling Arena. The past two years Kentucky has came down to Knoxville and lost. It looked promising in the first half as the Vols did not have an answer for P.J. Washington. He lead all scores at halftime with 11 points as the Wildcats were up 37-29.
The second half Tennessee started to find answer for Kentucky and that answer was attacking Kentucky when P.J. Washington get injuried. Washington looked like he had a serious injury but Cal said after the game that he was cramping up. The Vols took advantage of P.J. being out and got physical with Kentucky and the wildcats started to back down. Not being in position to rebound or play good defense which resulted into foul trouble. Both Wenyen Gabriel and Hamidou Diallo fouled out and Kevin Knox continued to struggle to get in rhythm. Usually when that happens Kentucky looses. The Cats fall to the Vols 76-65. Kentucky next game is at home on Tuesday January 9th versus Texas A.M at 7 p.m.
