Cats Lose 14th Straight SEC Game, 22-6

After taking the ball 75 yards on the opening drive and scoring a touchdown on a Jojo Kemp run, Kentucky looked like they might be set for an upset Saturday in Nashville. But Vandy blocked the extra point, taking it back for a safety, and the Cats unraveled from there.
UK picked up only 187 more yards the remainder of the game and failed to get on the scoreboard again. The offense was handicapped by four interceptions from quarterback Jalen Whitlow, who completed only half of his 28 passes and managed 120 yards through the air.
Meanwhile, UK’s defense carried the Cats and gave up only one score in the first three quarters before allowing 13 points in the final quarter, to give the Commodores a 22-6 victory. Wide receiver Jordan Matthews was the thorn in UK’s side, catching 12 passes for 141 yards and picking up 31 more on two carries. Matthews’ 172 total yards accounted for more than half of Vandy’s 313 total yards of offense.
The Cats, who are now 4-26 in their last 30 conference games, head to Athens to take on #25 Georgia on Saturday.
Stay tuned to KSTV this week as we close the book on the Vandy loss and look ahead to UK’s matchup with UGa.
