Cats light it up from deep to stomp out Tar Heels, 84-70

Kentucky has had trouble shooting the past three games in wins over Texas, EKU, and Columbia… but that wasn’t the case against North Carolina on Saturday afternoon.

Despite losing junior forward Alex Poythress the rest of the season with a torn ACL, Devin Booker and Willie Cauley-Stein scored 15 points a piece as the top-ranked Cats took care of business against No. 21 North Carolina 84-70.

UK went into halftime with a 15-point lead, pushing the lead to as much as 19 points in the second half before North Carolina’s Marcus Paige pulled his team within 11. In the end, though, Kentucky’s depth, length on defense, and dead-eye shooting from the outside (7-15 from three) proved too much for the Tar Heels, who move to 6-3 on the season. Kentucky now sits at 11-0.
