Softball doesn't fear the No. 1 Gators going into Super Regionals

LEXINGTON — It’s great to be good, but it’s even better to be Super.
The UK Softball team passed its first test in the NCAA Tournament last week with flying colors, beating Northwestern (5-4), Ball State (5-0), and host team Notre Dame (4-3) to win the South Bend Regional.
With the victories, the Cats advanced into the Super Regional round for the third consecutive season.
Their reward: The No. 1 team in the nation and the defending national champion Florida Gators.
Kentucky, of course, is very familiar with the Gators from facing each other every season in the SEC, but Florida held the upper hand this year, sweeping the Cats 3-0 during the regular season by a combined score of 9-3.
If Kentucky wants to return to its second straight College World Series, it not only needs to find a way to beat the Florida machine twice this weekend — they’ll have to do it on the Gators home field in Gainesville.
Despite the uphill battle ahead, cn2’s Kaci Kust reports that the Cats are confident and ready to pull off the upset.
