Cats Battle, But Fall Short In Athens

11/19/2011 07:38 PM

After getting pounded in Nashville by Vanderbilt last week, the Kentucky football team entered their game with the Georgia Bulldogs as 31-point underdogs. But unlike their game with the Commodores last week, Kentucky came out fighting and gave the SEC East leaders all they could handle before finally falling 19-10.

The Cats held Georgia’s explosive offense to four field goals before Aaron Murray found a wide-open Marlon Brown in the end zone at the start of the fourth quarter. UK’s lone touchdown came on a two-yard pass to Tyler Robinson from freshman quarterback Maxwell Smith, who finished the game 17/34 for 133 yards and two interceptions to go with his one touchdown pass.

The Cats, now officially eliminated from bowl contention, will prepare for another shot at breaking their 26-year losing streak to Tennessee next week.
