Camp Cal is coming

The fun is just beginning for Kentucky basketball. Following their 23-point win over Hofstra on Sunday, the players are back on campus finishing up their finals. All of the players will be done with their fall schoolwork by Wednesday.

That means it’s time for the annual “Camp Cal” to begin. Calipari and his assistants will lead the team through three-a-day practices over the next few weeks to get their bodies ready for the bulk of their schedule starting in early January.

In the midst of “Camp Cal,” Kentucky has two huge non-conference games. Kentucky will face the No. 7 North Carolina Tar Heels this coming Saturday in Las Vegas at 5:45. The following Wednesday will be the annual Kentucky-Louisvlle game at the KFC YUM! Center. The Cats will take on the No. 11 Cardinals at 7:00 on ESPN.

This can be a grueling period for the players, but it is meant to bring out the best in their games and bring the players closer together as a team.

Assistant coach Joel Justus says the workouts only help the team going forward.

Lachlan McLean and Bradley McKee discuss what Kentucky needs to focus on during “Camp Cal.”
