Calipari on 2015-16 roster: "We have a little bit of everything."

LEXINGTON — While most college basketball coaches are off enjoying summer vacations, John Calipari is holding press conferences down at Kentucky.
June typically isn’t considered to be basketball season, but Coach Cal addressed several important topics during a media session at Memorial Coliseum on Thursday morning.
Despite losing his top seven scorers from a historic 2014-15 squad to the NBA Draft and uncharacteristically missing out on a slew of top prospects from the Class of 2015, Calipari said he remains optimistic for his upcoming roster that has “a little bit of everything.”
“I feel good about it. I just think we will be different,” said Calipari about his squad for the 2015-16 season. “Kind of excited about it. I think this may be one of those multiple pick-and-roll kind of teams. Could be more of a dribble drive team than I’ve had here in a while.
“I think we have a little bit of everything, and again there’s no one like anyone else on the team. There are not two guys that are similar. Every guy is different and has his own thing. It’s exciting because we’re still going to be good.”
Even with the departure of seven players to the Association, it’s not as if the cupboard was left bare back in Lexington.
Returning players Alex Poythress, Marcus Lee, and Tyler Ulis are all former Parade and McDonald’s All-Americans; Dominique Hawkins was Kentucky Mr. Basketball in 2013; and Derek Willis and EJ Floreal will be expected to log significant minutes as junior upperclassmen.
And don’t forget about the incoming recruiting class, either — another top-5 haul that includes the top-rated player (Skal Labissiere) and point guard (Isaiah Briscoe) in the entire nation.
KSTV discussed Calipari’s comments on Thursday’s show, including our expectations for a unique mix of players that could produce another excited season at UK.
