Bring on Florida! Cats to face Gators in SEC quarterfinals

Florida outlasted a late run by Alabama to come away with the 69-61 victory Thursday afternoon in the second round of the SEC Tournament.

Alabama sprinted out to a 23-15 lead by making seven of its first nine shots, but the Crimson Tide suddenly went cold — going just 1-of-9 to close out the first half. The Gators took a 33-29 into halftime and never looked back.

UF’s Dorian Finney-Smith had Gator fans rocking in Nashville with his 23 points and 11 rebounds. Eli Carter and Devin Robinson added 11 and 10 points, respectively, to give the eighth-seeded Gators, now just 16-16 on the season, a third chance at unbeaten Kentucky tomorrow in the quarterfinals. Back in February, Kentucky won 68-61 in Gainesville, and last week, the Cats pulled away late to an easy 67-50 victory at Rupp.

Kentucky is looking to move to 32-0 on the season. Tip-off is at 1:00 PM EST at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
