University of Kentucky running back Boom Williams has been named as a preseason candidate for the 2016 Doak Walker Award.

The award is presented each year to the top collegiate running back in the nation. Williams starred in the UK backfield two seasons in a row. In 2015, Williams rushed for 855 yards in 10 games, totaling six touchdowns and a school-record 7.1 yards per carry average.

The winner of the 2016 Doak Walker Award will be chosen by a national selection committee on November 28.
