Big expectations for UK basketball freshmen as they arrive in Lexington

It’s official. The 2014-15 basketball pre-season is underway. Well, sort of. With the new guys — Karl Towns, Trey Lyles, Tyler Ulis, and Devin Booker — moving in at UK, they are now officially Kentucky Wildcats.

With Alex Poythress, Dakari Johnson, Willie Cauley-Stein, and the Harrison Twins returning, there are no doubt high expectations for this coming season. But what about the freshman? They’ve always been an enormous part of Coach Cal’s system since he stepped foot in Lexington. These four newcomers are all McDonald’s All-Americans and would be surefire starters anywhere in the country… but on a team like Kentucky, that’s still to be determined.

KSTV’s Thomas Beisner, Ben Rainwater, and Mark Krebs discuss the reasonable expectations for this batch of elite freshman.

About Mark Krebs

Mark Krebs graduated cum laude from the University of Kentucky in 2010 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and was a three-year letterman in basketball. He proved himself to three different coaches (Smith, Gillispie, and Calipari) in his four years with the Cats and eventually earned a scholarship after three years of being a walk-on. Mark is currently splitting time between his book tour for Beyond a Dream and starring as part-time co-host on KSTV.
