Arkansas Sweeps Kentucky With OT Win

02/27/2014 11:15 PM

The Cats suffered another overtime loss at the hands of the Arkansas Razorbacks — this time 71-67. Arkansas’ Coty Clarke scored seven points in overtime to help the Razorbacks get their first victory in Rupp since 1994 and complete the season sweep. Arkansas becomes only the second team in the Calipari-era to beat Kentucky twice in the same year. The other team was UConn back in 2011.

Kentucky, who trailed by as many as twelve points in the first half, had a chance to win it in regulation, but turnovers and missed free-throws allowed Arkansas to push the game into overtime where they would ultimately win it. Poor foul-shooting proved to be the difference in the game. Arkansas finished a perfect 16-16 from the line, while Kentucky shot just 12-22, 54.5 percent.

Kentucky’s Willie Cauley-Stein finished with a game-high 16 points and 13 rebounds. Julius Randle finished with 14 and 10. And Michael Qualls paced the Razorbacks with 14 points.

Kentucky falls to 11-4 in SEC play and 21-7 on the season. They hit the road looking to bounce back against the South Carolina Gamecocks at 6 P.M. on Saturday.
