It wasn’t pretty, but No. 2 Kentucky hung on to beat No. 15 Northern Kentucky 79-70 to advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament. De’Aaron Fox led the way with 19 points (8-15 FG) and was aggressive early on. He was a big reason why Kentucky got off to a fast start. UK Hoops hangs on to beat Belmont 73-70

The Kentucky women’s basketball team has advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament, beating Belmont 73 to 70 this afternoon at Memorial Coliseum. The Wildcats got off to a fast start, taking an early 10-point lead over Belmont in the first quarter. Things changed in the second quarter, as Belmont caught fire and went into the half with a 36-35 lead. Kentucky’s defense has struggled throughout most of the season, but it seems to be improving as the Wildcats enter the NCAA tournament. During Kentucky’s 11-game winning streak, the Wildcats have held opponents to 66.8 points per game while forcing opponents to commit 12 turnovers on average.
