UK football recruiting continuing to surge through the summer

With 14 recruits committed so far in the class of 2015, Kentucky currently sits at #17 according to’s national recruiting rankings. The Cats snagged the three newest commits over the weekend as part of Friday Night Blue Lights recruiting event. Marcus Walker (2015 three-star safety), Kei Beckham (2015 three-star corner) and Zy’Aire Hughes (2016 athlete) all verbally announced for UK. UK feels good about their chances with Damien Harris

Five-star running back Damien Harris, a senior at Madison Southern High School, is set to make his college decision on December 13th between UK, Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan and others. Mark Stoops will not attend the Governor's Cup luncheon

UK head coach Mark Stoops made waves Monday when it was announced that he would not attend the annual Governor’s Cup Luncheon in Louisville. The event takes place every year in Louisville and hosts both coaches from UK and UofL, as well as the athletics directors and the governor. Stoops is the first coach to withdraw from the event and that created some controversy.  Read more

Big Blue Nation has long believed the battle to be between Patrick Towles and Drew Barker. UK picked to finish last in the SEC East, Dupree named All-SEC

In a vote by the media covering the conference, UK was picked to finish last in the SEC’s Eastern Division, behind South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Missouri, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Alabama and South Carolina were the choices to win each division, while the Crimson Tide were selected as the overwhelming pick to win the conference. Previewing UK's SEC opponents: Florida Gators

Head coach Mark Stoops and the Cats will hope to open the season 2-0 with games against UT Martin and Ohio. After that, things will likely get a bit more difficult when the team heads to Gainsville to visit the Florida Gators. There is a bright light for UK in that these are not the Gators of old. No starting QB is listed, but UK's post-spring depth chart provides some clarity

If you were hoping to see a starting quarterback listed on UK’s newly released depth chart, you’re in for a letdown. The quarterbacks were listed as following: Patrick Towles OR Reese Phillips OR Drew Barker There was also no starting running back on the depth chart. Jojo Kemp and Braylen Heard were both listed at the top spot. While the QB and running back questions wasn’t answered, a number of others were.
