UK FOOTBALL | Wildcats Help Run High School Friday Night Lights Camp

Frederick Douglass High School in Lexington hosted it’s first-ever “Friday Night Lights Camp,” for youngsters to learn fundamentals in all football positions. Several Kentucky football Wildcats including Benny Snell, Jr and Kash Daniels were at the camp, to serve as “counselors,” teaching various drills to help kids grow their skill set. Benny Snell, Jr explained how excited he was for the opportunity to serve as a mentor to the campers.  Read more 

UK TENNIS | Eric Quigley Named to UK Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2018

Former Kentucky tennis star Eric Quigley was named this week as a member of the UK Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2018. Quigley is the winningest Wildcat in school history with 172 victories. Much of his success led Kentucky to finish in the top-10 rankings twice during Quigley’s UK career. Anthony Davis is in Lexington hosting hosting his first-ever basketball camp at Lexington Christian Academy. The camp, which is for ages 7-11 got underway on Friday and resumes on Saturday. Former University of Kentucky football wide receiver & defensive back, Anthony “Champ” Kelly is back in Kentucky for the weekend, hosting his two-day ‘C.H.A.M.P CAMP’ at Tates Creek High School in Lexington. The Lexington Legends baseball team hosted ‘Coach Mark Stoops Night’ at Whitaker Bank Ballpark on Tuesday night, as the Kansas City Royals single-A affiliate faced off with the Columbia Fireflies, an affiliate of the New York Mets. Lexington won 2-1, in a shortened game due to rain. The first 1,000 fans through the gates received a Stoops Bobblehead and Coach Stoops himself was on-hand to toss out the ceremonial first pitch. The first of three John Calipari Father/Son Camp’s kicked off in Lexington Friday night. The overnight camp took place on the University of Kentucky campus allowing registered campers the opportunity to participate in instruction from the Kentucky coaches and staff, along with current Wildcat players through detailed skill work and competitions. Former University of Kentucky student-athlete and Athletic Director C.M. Newtown passed away Monday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at the age of 88, according to UK. In a press release, current Director of Athletics Mitch Barnhart issued the following statement: “C.M.
