The Wildcats took an early 17 point lead over South Carolina but lost starting PG De’aaron Fox to an ankle injury halfway through the first half, that’s when Frank Martin’s team gathered themselves to pull within 3 at 30-27. Senior Dominique Hawkins steadied the ship for the Wildcats after taking over at point guard and the Wildcats took a 9 point lead into the half at 47-38. It was an ugly game that had no flow. Kentucky and Mississippi State combined to commit 52 fouls. But that didn’t stop Kentucky from staying perfect in the SEC. The Wildcats (16-2, 6-0) defeated Mississippi State (12-5, 3-2) 88-81. Kentucky went into the half with a 46-34 lead. Five players had two fouls.
