3 most important takeaways from the JMI Sports deal

Monday’s announcement of a new multimedia deal with marketing giant JMI Sports was followed by much discussion about its meaning.
According to UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart, the three biggest take-ways from the $210 million deal include:
- building a network for Kentucky fans to remain connected to the successes and accomplishments of the university, as well as exposure for Wildcat athletes
- addressing capital needs, which can now be funded using a $29.4 million signing bonus over the first two years
- creating a self-sustaining university that includes a healthy working relationship between Athletics and Academics
Barnhart says the partnership announced today is crucial to the growth of the university.
