Left behind. That’s how Alex Poythress must have felt after watching seven of his Kentucky teammates sitting at the press conference table last week, declaring for the NBA draft together. It was a historic moment for both UK and college basketball, and Alex should have been a part of it. After a disappointing end to what was a storybook season, First Team All-American Willie Cauley-Stein has had a few weeks to rest and reflect on what could have been. With seven players leaving for the NBA, John Calipari is spending the early part of his off-season trying to fill out the rest of his team’s roster. Kentucky has three players already on board for the incoming recruiting class in the form of Skal Labissiere, Isaiah Briscoe and Charles Matthews, but Coach Cal could be looking to bolster in a way that’s not as common at UK.
