Friday both the University of Louisville and University of Kentucky Athletic Departments confirmed that effective on July 1, 2018, the Kentucky Department of Revenue will levy a 6-percent sales tax on ticket sales to events hosted by most non-profit organizations, which would include university sporting events, but not teams like the Louisville Bats, Lexington Legends of Minor League Baseball or USL soccer events like Louisville City F.C. games. Frederick Douglass High School in Lexington hosted it’s first-ever “Friday Night Lights Camp,” for youngsters to learn fundamentals in all football positions. Several Kentucky football Wildcats including Benny Snell, Jr and Kash Daniels were at the camp, to serve as “counselors,” teaching various drills to help kids grow their skill set. Benny Snell, Jr explained how excited he was for the opportunity to serve as a mentor to the campers.  Read more

Former Kentucky tennis star Eric Quigley was named this week as a member of the UK Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2018. Quigley is the winningest Wildcat in school history with 172 victories. Much of his success led Kentucky to finish in the top-10 rankings twice during Quigley’s UK career. The UK women’s basketball program ranked 15th in average attendance during the 2017-2018 season, after averaging 5,187 fans per game. it’s the ninth straight year that the Wildcats have ranked in the top 15 in average attendance nationally. Stanford graduate transfer Reid Travis announced on Wednesday that he will transfer to Kentucky to pursue a master’s degree. Anthony Davis is in Lexington hosting hosting his first-ever basketball camp at Lexington Christian Academy. The camp, which is for ages 7-11 got underway on Friday and resumes on Saturday.
