WKU's Doughty earns national honors after record performance

A record-breaking performance by redshirt senior Brandon Doughty helped the WKU Hilltoppers earn a 59-31 season-opening win over Bowling Green. And Doughty has now earned national and conference praise for it, including National Performer of the Week, Quarterback Performer of the Week and Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Doughty completed 46 of 56 passes for 569 yards and six touchdowns against Bowling Green. His six touchdown passes tied a Conference USA record while his 569 yards ranked third and 46 completions ranked fourth in league history. Doughty, however, remains humble.
WKU will face Big Ten rival Illinois on Saturday and head coach Jeff Brohm says he looks forward to seeing how his team works together moving forward.
Kick-off against the Fighting Illini is set for 11 a.m. CT in Champaign.
