WKU FOOTBALL | Mike White ushers in new era with win over Rice

The Hilltopper offense did not miss a beat versus Rice as WKU rolled up 649 yards of total offense in route to a 46-14 win to open the season at LT Smith Stadium in Bowling Green.

Replacing an NFL quarterback is no easy task but Mike White made it look easy as the the redshirt junior made the most of his first start as a Topper passing for 517 yards and 3 touchdowns as WKU picked up their first conference USA win of the season

White connected on 25 of 31 passes spreading the ball around to 9 different receivers. Nicholas Norris had 7 grabs for 147 yards and 2 touchdowns and senior Taywan Taylor tallied 165 yards on 5 catches to lead the Tops.

Redshirt senior Anthony “Ace” Wales also reached the endzone twice as he rushed for 58 yards on 15 carries as WKU was in control for most of the game.

WKU moves to 1-0 on the season and will travel to Tuscaloosa to face the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide next Saturday.
