WKU Football: Hilltoppers suffer first loss of season, lose to Indiana 38-35

Indiana scored 21 straight points to begin the second half, to turn a 28-17 deficit into a 38-28 lead, and the Hoosiers held on to defeat Western Kentucky 38-35.
The loss snaps a 7 game Hilltoppers winning streak dating back to last season.
WKU Quarterback Brandon Doughty completed 35 of 46 passes for 484 and three touchdwns. But he also threw a pair of second half interceptions that led to a couple of Hoosier touchdowns.
The Hilltoppers defense struggled for much of the afternoon, allowing Indiana 639 total yards of offense. And at the end of the game, Indiana got the ball up by just 3 with 5:56 to go in the game, and the Hoosiers were able to run out the clock.
WKU’s Taywan Taylor had 9 catches for 196 yards and a touchdown, while tight end Tyler Higbee had 11 catches for 109 yards and a touchdown. Indiana’s Jordan Howard rushed for 206 yards. With the win the Hoosiers go to 3-0 while the ‘Toppers fall to 2-1. WKU will host Miami of Ohio next Saturday at 3:3opm ET/2:30pm CT. Indiana travels to Wake Forest for a 12:30pm ET Kickoff.
