WKU Can Lock Up a Two Seed With A Win Tonight

03/06/2014 02:15 PM

Western Kentucky finds themselves in a very envious position. With only two regular season games left before tournament play begins, they are in control of their own destiny. Currently WKU sits in second place in the Sunbelt Conference with a one game lead over tonight’s opponent Louisiana Lafayette.

So with a win WKU would lock up second place and the all-important double-bye heading into the Sunbelt Conference next week. Lose tonight and Western falls into a tie for second place and finishes out the season at league leader Georgia State, who also happens to be undefeated at home this season.

Senior Forward Okaro Akamune has been a part of the Toppers last two conference tournament championship teams. He knows how important the double bye would be if the Toppers hope to capture a third straight Sunbelt championship and make some noise again this year in the NCAA Tournament this year
