WKU BASKETBALL | Searching now for a Head Coach
03/18/2016 07:07 PM
WKU basketball is in a state of flux, following the suspensions of three players, Fredrick Edmond, Marlon Hunter and Chris McNeal, and the resignation of Head Basketball Coach Ray Harper.
Rumors are swirling as to the reasons, but nothing has been substantiated. However Athletic Director Todd Stewart said in a statement, ““Federal law prevents us from public discussion of any details related to student disciplinary cases.”
Meanwhile the Hilltoppers now have a coaching vacancy to fill. We reached out to a number of candidates. The University of Texas, in response to the school’s possible interest in Darrin Horn, told us Horn is their assistant and Texas has an NCAA game to deal with (versus Northern Iowa Friday Night).
I spoke with Bellarmine Head Coach Scott Davenport who told me he has not talked to anyone and he already has a tremendous job. “Western is a tremendous institution but no one has reached out to me, Davenport said.” He also told me his philosophy is to always listen to everyone because he does not want to come off as rude, but that he has a great job.
We have put into calls to another candidate in John Pelphrey and Athletic Director Todd Stewart, but have not heard back from either individual.
We did speak with WBKO reporter Chad Bishop, to discuss WKU’s situation on and off the court.
