WKU announced today that Alabama will be added to their 2016 football schedule. The game will be played in Tuscaloosa on September 10.

This will mark the second SEC game for WKU in 2016 as the Hilltoppers will play host to Vanderbilt on September 24. Western will play at Vandy in 2015 and 2017.

“Obviously, playing Alabama is an opportunity to compete on the highest stage against a truly outstanding program,” Director of Athletics Todd Stewart told wkusports.com . “The five hour drive enables our fans to make the trip to Tuscaloosa and enjoy a terrific college football experience. Our players enjoy the exposure that results from competing at the highest level and many of them have excelled in recent games against strong non-conference opponents.”

WKU kicks off their 2014 football season on Friday, August 29 at home against Bowling Green. They then travel to Illinois to take on the Fighting Illini before opening their inaugural season in Conference USA on September 13 at Middle Tennessee State University.
