Why Louisville might be #1 in 2015

With the commitment of five-star guard Antonio Blakeney, Louisville has surged to the top of most basketball recruiting rankings.

Blakeney is a consensus top-20 recruit, and he’s joined by Trinity big man Raymond Spalding, small forward Deng Adel and another highly-touted guard in Donovan Mitchell. Each recruit is ranked at least four-stars, and some have hit five-star status depending on the recruiting service.

Rankings can be tricky, because it’s hard to guess how guys will pan out, who will make it on campus and a number of other factors. In short, recruiting is an inexact science, but a team is much better off being on the high end of the spectrum rather than the low end.

As Steve Jones from the Courier-Journal explained to cn|2 Sports, Louisville is currently the cream of the crop in 2015 college basketball recruiting, and that could pay dividends on the court later on.
