10/12/2016 10:53 PM

Louisville men’s basketball fans had a chance to watch the Cards for the first time this season on Wednesday night, when players took part in the first of two “Red-White Scrimmages.”

Team Red defeated Team White 105-102 in the intrasquad match-up.

The teams were determined by the coaching staff prior to the contest.

Team Red consisted of V.J. King, Ray Spalding, Anas Mahmoud, Tony Hicks, Donovan Mitchell, Tyler Sharp and Dwayne Sutton.

Team White featured Jaylen Johnson, Deng Adel, Matz Stockman, Quentin Snider, David Levitch, Jay Henderson and Ryan McMahon.

Head coach Rick Pitino said on Tuesday that it would be a tough evening for the players because there were not many subs on the bench to replace them throughout the game.

By the end of the night, Quentin Snider was the leading scorer overall. The guard had 27 points, going six of eight from 3-point range.

His Wednesday night teammate Ryan McMahon also had a big night from downtown. McMahon went six of eight from behind-the-arc too, leading to his 18-point performance.

Meanwhile, Team White’s Jaylen Johnson had over 20 points. Johnson finished with 21 points and 20 rebounds, along with eight personal fouls.

As for the winning team, graduate transfer Tony Hicks led the way. Hicks, playing in his first “game” for Louisville, finished with 26 points on 10-19 shooting.

In addition to Hicks’ performance, Donovan Mitchell tacked on 22 points for Team Red, while Ray Spalding had a double-double, 18 points and 15 rebounds.

The Cards’ next “Red-White Scrimmage” will take place October 21st at 7 p.m. ET inside the KFC Yum! Center.
