UofL grabbed their second ACC win of the season with a homecoming victory over Boston College 17-14. The win came in front of a less-than-packed crowd of 41,486.

The Cardinals took the lead first, driving 48 yards on 7 plays that capped off with a four yard rushing touchdown by Lamar Jackson. Those would be the only points of the first quarter for either team.

Louisville would score another touchdown just over five minutes into the second quarter on a fumble recovery returned 46 yards by Sheldon Rankins. The Cards up 14-0. The first points for Boston College would come five minutes later on a blocked Josh Appleby punt on the Louisville 12 yard line. Louisville responded immediately with a scoring drive of their own. A 49 yard Jeremy Smith run moved the Cards to the Boston College 26 yard line. UofL moved the ball nine yards on the next three plays and settled for a 34 yard field goal from John Wallace on fourth and one. Louisville entered the locker room at the half with a 10 point lead.

The Cardinals would not score a point in the second half despite a few promising drives. They held the Golden Eagles to just one third quarter touchdown from an eight yard Jeff Smith keeper that was the result of a Jeremy Smith fumble. Louisville survived giving up three turnovers in the second half, and held BC to just seven points.

The defenses shined for both teams in a game that had 30 combined tackles for loss.

Louisville held Boston College to -14 rushing yards. Coming into the game, BC was averaging over 200 yards per game. The Cards defense also allowed just 79 yards of total offense in the game. After the game coach Petrino said he was really happy the way the defense came back after a rough outing against Florida State.

The Cardinals move to 3-4 on the season and have just less than a week before they head to Winston-Salem, NC to take on Wake Forest. That game is scheduled for Friday night at 7:00pm.
