UofL destroys Rutgers in opening AAC tournament game

The Scarlet Knights held a 7-6 lead just four minutes into the game, but then the Cards shut down Rutgers (12-21, 5-13 AAC) with stifling defense that forced 26 turnovers and scoring 44 points off those turnovers. Louisville (27-5, 15-3 ACC) routed Rutgers 92-31 and moved on to the semifinals of the AAC tournament to take on Houston.
In the first half, Rutgers had more turnovers than points, giving up the ball 17 times and only scoring 16. The Cards held the Scarlet Knights to 30 percent shooting with a stifling pressure defense.
The UofL bench outscored the entire Rutgers team 32-31. Five Cards scored in double digits, and the team’s 58 first-half points were the most points scored by the Cards in the first half this year.
