University of Louisville defensive end Lorenzo Mauldin is “alert and responsive” after being involved in a moped accident on campus near the Yum! Center training facility this morning, according to UofL Athletics spokesman Rocco Gasparro.

Mauldin is currently at Jewish Hospital for multiple tests. Hospital spokesperson said Mauldin is in “satisfactory condition.” Gasparro tweeted at 1:11 p.m. that preliminary tests on Mauldin have come back good and that he will be kept overnight for continued observation for precautionary reasons.

UofL spokesperson John Drees confirmed witnesses to the accident said Mauldin was in the right hand lane going north on Floyd and was hit by a champagne or tan colored sedan.

The Atlanta, GA native posted a career-high 22 tackles last season, including a team-high 4.5 sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss.
