UofL BASKETBALL | Cards Season Comes To An End With Loss At Virginia

03/05/2016 10:47 PM

And just like that…it was over. The Cards appeared to be going through the motions as they finished out their season with a 68-46 loss at Virginia.

The Cards could muster only one point, an Onuaku free throw, in the first ten minutes of the game, setting the tone for what was to come. UL shot just 25% from the field in the first half, 28% for the game, due to a combination of Virginia defense and lackluster play. The starting lineup totaled just 9 points yet Louisville only trailed by 12; 29-17 going in to the break.

The second half started very similar to the first half. The Virginia defense tightened the screws and Louisville couldn’t make a basket. Cavalier center Mike Tobey finished with 15 points and 20 rebounds. On the flip side the only Card to hit double figures was freshman Donovan Mitchell who finished with 11 points.

With the win Virginia goes in to the ACC Tournament as the number 2 seed. North Carolina clinched the number one seed with their win over Duke.

For Louisville, the program now faces an off season full of uncertainty.
