UofL BASKETBALL | Cards go cold in final 5 minutes as they lose at Miami

02/27/2016 04:22 PM

The Louisville Cardinals were in front for much of the second half. However after leading Miami 62-58 with 5:12 to go, the Cards would go cold, giving up 12 straight points and scoring just a single three pointer. It turned into a 15-3 Miami run to end the game as the Canes knocked off the Cards 73-65.

Louisville’s Quentin Snider led UofL with 14 points, while Trey Lewis had 13. But Chinanu Onuaku, who had been a big factor, fouled out near the end of the game. The Sophomore finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds.

The difference in the game was outside shooting. Miami was an amazing 73% from behind the three point arc (8 of 11) while Louisville hit just 7 of 22 long range shots.
The Canes were led by Davon Reed and Angel Rodriguez who both finished with a game high 17 points.

The loss means the best Louisville can do is tie for the ACC Regular Season title. UofL is now 11-5 in conference (22-7 overall), while Miami improves to 23-5, 12-4 in the League. North Carolina started the day atop the ACC at 23-5, 12-3 in the league.

Because of their self imposed post season ban, Louisville has two games remaining. The home finale is Tuesday Night at the YUM Center against Georgia Tech (17-12, 12-9). The final game of the regular season is Saturday March 5th when Louisville plays at Virginia.
