UofL BASKETBALL | Cards Demolish Samford 86-45
11/13/2015 10:38 PM
It was over almost before it began. The Louisville Cardinals grabbed the lead from Samford early in the game, and never gave it back en route to a 41 point, 86-45 blowout of the Bulldogs.
The turning point in the game happened early when the Cards lost one of their team leaders. Damion Lee left the game early with no points and two quick fouls. However, Quentin Snider and Donovan Mitchell came into the game and more than made up for the difference. Snider finished with 12 points, while Mitchell, a freshman, was a perfect 4 of 4 from the field with 5 free throws to finish tied for the team high with 14 points.
Lee got hot in the second half, scoring all 14 of his points. Chinanu Onuaku had 11 points, five rebounds, five blocks and a massive dunk. Samford’s Christian Cunningham led all scorers with 15.
With the win Louisville is 1-0 and next plays Tuesday against Hartford at the YUM Center (7pm tip). The Hawks opened their season beating Central Connecticut 92-83.
