UofL BASKETBALL | Blows out FSU but a single play is what most will remember
01/21/2016 12:49 AM
Some are calling it Louisville’s most complete game of the season. Quentin Snider had a team high 20 points while Damion Lee added 14, and Chinanu Onuaku had another double-double (11 points and 14 rebounds), as the Cards blew out Florida State 84-65.
Until the final couple minutes when the back of the UofL bench was in the game, Louisville had FSU down by about 30 points. The Cardinals never trailed in the game, winning by the eventual 19 point margin.
With the victory, the 17th ranked Cards improve to 15-3 overall, 4-1 in the ACC while FSU drops to 12-6, 2-4.
Having said all that, UofL fans won’t remember this game for the Cards high powered offensive production, or stingy defense, but rather an amazing, insane, unbelievable dunk. It took place with a little more than 6 minutes to go in the first half. Damion Lee missed his shot, but freshman Donovan Mitchell skied high for the rebound, cocked his arm back and exploded with an amazing jam. It had the crowd buzzing the rest of the game.
Teammate Trey Lewis called it the turning point of the game. As for Mitchell, he did not get to see it until we showed it to him on our cell phone. Here is his reaction.
Some are calling it the dunk of the season. Next up for Louisville is a trip to Atlanta for a Saturday afternoon game against Georgia Tech.
