UofL Baseball Tops UK: Splitting the Series

The Louisville baseball team got their revenge against Kentucky Tuesday night, and in a BIG way. The last time the in-state rivals met up, U-K took away the ‘W’ with a 5-4 game, but the matchup last night looked completely different. The eighth ranked Cards crushed U-K 12-5 splitting the series. The game started out on U-K’s side with freshman right-hander Kyle Cody quickly knocking off three batters in the first. Kentucky kept the momentum from the starting gate and scored one run in the bottom first, but that’s where the energy fizzled out for the Cats. Louisville had two surges in the game getting five runs in the third inning and six runs in the fifth inning. UK added to their score with two runs in the third and one more in the ninth, but it just wasn’t enough. Louisville locked up the win and is now one game behind the best record in school history.
