UofL Baseball Must Win Against Oregon State

On Monday, the goal of the UofL baseball team was to try and bounce back from their tough 2-0 loss to Indiana on Saturday at the college world series. Today’s opponent in this double-elimination round was Oregon State, which was one of the top five programs for much of this season. Oregon State, like Louisville, fell in a close game on Saturday, losing to Mississippi State. UofL’s hitters, though, were trying to bounce back from from a rough day against Indiana. They just couldn’t seem to figure out IU’s Joey DeNato. Denato struck out eight while allowing only four hits in a complete game shutout. IU scored two runs off Louisville starter Chad Green, who was pulled in the third inning after loading the bases with no one out. The Cards’ hopes to stay alive today turned to junior righty Jeff Thompson, who was outstanding in their clincher in the last round over Vanderbilt.
