UofL BASEBALL | Cards Open Regional Play Against Western Michigan

The Brackets are now set and play starts Friday for the 2016 NCAA Baseball Tournament. Louisville will again play host to the Regional Round of the NCAA Tournament and the home team will face off against Western Michigan at 6pm. That game can be seen locally on ESPN3.

Western Michigan finished the season with a 22-32 record (11-13 in the MAC) but found themselves in this years NCAA Tournament by way of beating Kent State in the finals of the MAC Tournament.

Joining the Cardinals and Western Michigan at the Louisville Regional will be Wright State and Ohio State. Those two teams open Regional play at 2pm on Friday

Regional play is a double elimination format. Play starts Friday and continues through Monday if necessary. Should UofL advance this weekend they will host the winner of the Nashville regional in the Super Regional. Super Regional play is a best of three format with the winner advancing to Omaha and the College World Series.

The Nashville Regional is comprised of Vanderbilt, Xavier, Washington and UC-Santa Barbara.
