The location was different, but the result was the same. Shane Hummel pitched 7 innings of two run, five hit baseball, as the Cardinals once again blew out Western Kentucky, 14-2. It’s the second time in less than two weeks Louisville has pounded WKU. March 29th in Bowling Green, UofL got the 17-0 victory.

Louisville catcher Colby Fitch was the hitting star, going 4-for-5 with three RBI. Infielder Blake Tiberi went 2-for-3 with four RBI, smacking his fifth home run on the season.

Western Kentucky actually took an early 1-zip lead in the first, but Louisville quickly countered with four runs in the first and six in the fourth.

With the win, the sixth ranked Cardinals improve to 25-7, while the Hilltoppers fall to 18-14. Louisville continues its busy week (five games in six days) with a Wednesday night showdown at number 9 Kentucky. WKU’s next contest is Friday at Rice, the start of a three game series against the Conference USA foe.
