The top seeded UofL Baseball team is hosting this weekend’s NCAA Regional Tournament at Jim Patterson Stadium.

The first game is Friday at 2pm between #2 seed UK and #3 Seed Kansas. Game two is a match-up between UofL and #4 seeded Kent State. That’s Friday at 6pm.

If UofL and UK win their first games they’ll meet each other on Saturday.

We spoke with Cards Senior Jeff Gardner about what is going through their minds as the team prepares.

Gardner says he’s heard people downplaying their first match-up against Kent State but he warns that’s not a team to take lightly.

In addition to the home field advantage, Gardner says what makes the Cardinals different than some is that they are thinking about post-season play all year long.

He says from day one they are focused on winning a National Championship.

As for the possibility of playing UK Saturday, Gardner says they might need more bleachers in the stadium. He says he couldn’t think of a better way to cap off his senior year.
