UofL and NFL star Deion Branch discusses dangers of head injuries amid Paul Hornung lawsuit

Louisville native and NFL Hall of Famer Paul Hornung has filed a suit against helmet maker Riddell, Inc.

In the suit, Hornung alleges the company’s helmets, which he wore throughout his NFL career, were falsely promoted as protection from brain injuries. Hornung now suffers from dementia.

In a statement, Hornung explains his reasons for filing the suit.

“The main reason for bringing this lawsuit to use my name and experience to alert former players and warn every current NFL player, every college and high school player and every little tyke playing on the football field that brain injury is real and that the head should never be used as a weapon.”

University of Louisville and NFL star Deion Branch says he’s thankful to be healthy after years of playing football, but the looming threat of injury never leaves his mind.
