University of Louisville AD Tom Jurich enters a Hall of Fame

University of Louisville Athletic director Tom Jurich will be inducted into the Flagstaff Sports Foundation Hall of Fame Wednesday evening in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Jurich is best known for running the UofL Athletic Department, but in the early part of his career he had a lot of success in Flagstaff. At Northern University, Jurich played punter, placekicker and backup quarterback. He got first-team Kodak All-America honors in 1977 as a kicker. He is also the only kicker in Big Sky Conference history to be named the league’s offensive player of the year.

After a short stint in the NFL and private business, Jurich returned to NAU to serve as director of athletics for eight years. He went into thee NAU Sports Hall of Fame in 1989, and then left to become A.D. at Colorado State in 1994, and UofL in 1997.
