Rick Pitino added a late comer to next season’s recruiting haul and he’s a big one. 7-1, 205-pound forward/center Anas Osama Mahmoud (pronounced AH-nahs o-SAW-mah mah-MOOD) from Cairo, Egypt who played last season at West Oaks Academy signed a letter of intent. Mahmoud is a four-star recruit that is rated 99 in the ESPN Top 100

“Anas is an extremely versatile seven-footer,” said UofL Men’s Basketball Coach Rick Pitino. “He is a very skilled athlete who is a very good scorer and passer. His only weakness is strength. We will base a consideration of redshirting him on how quickly he can gain necessary strength to be effective. We’re delighted to have Anas at the University of Louisville.”

Mahmoud part of a 2014 Cardinal recruiting class that is ranked 4th overall by ESPN. He joins 6-1 guard Quentin Snider, 6-7 guard Shaqquan Aaron, 6-9 forward Jaylen Johnson, 6-10 forward/center Chinanu Onuaku, and fellow 7 footer Matz Stockman.
