Chichester, Trevathan on Watch Lists

Two local players have been named to preseason watch lists for a pair of prestigious college football awards.
U of L announced on Wednesday that senior tight end Josh Chichester has been named to the preseason watch list for the John Mackey Award, which is given to the nation’s top tight end. The 6-foot-8, 240-pound Chichester caught 22 passes for 317 yards and five touchdowns last year. Ten players who have won the Mackey Award have gone on to the NFL.
Also, University of Kentucky senior linebacker Danny Trevathan has been named to the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award given to the nation’s top defensive player. Trevathan earned first-team All-America and All-SEC honors last season, leading the conference in tackles (144), tackles for loss (16).
The 2011 Bednarik and John Mackey Award winners will be presented live at the Home Depot ESPN College Football Awards Red Carpet Show on December 8, 2011 at 6 pm EST on ESPNU.
