Trinity handles St. X

Trinity, the nation’s No. 2 team according to a USA Today computer poll, used a dominant second half to pull away from arch-rival St. X 41-6Friday night at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.
St. X gave a gallant effort early and trailed just 14-6 at hafltime after Alex Mattingly scored on a 35-yard run late in the second quarter.
The Shamrocks took control in the third. Quarterback Travis Wright’s 20-yard TD pass to James Quick made it 21-6, and Dalyn Dawkins scored on a 19-yard run at the 1:55 mark and the rout was on.
Quick had eight catches for 155 yards, two of which went for TD’s. He threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Wall. Dawkins rushed for 139 yards on 21 carries and had two scoring runs. Wright was 17-of-23 passing for 252 yards and two TD’s. Trinity improved to 7-0 and will host Manual, the state’s second-ranked team, next Friday.
St. X leads the overall series 36-34-2.
